Following a powerful storm, the tidal surge breaking waves far off shore, out to sea. Huge barrelling but messy waves all crashing into one another, angry power with nowhere to go.
Then the stark contrast of the water ahead, the faint signs of the momentum of the previous wave still visible on the surface. The fibreglass in this piece created the perfect big, bold structure I needed to portray this turbulent wave formation.
Using sand mixed into the paint for the rest of the water helped that texture flow through the whole piece.
