‘A very familiar view’ is from the shore of a beach on the Carrick Roads.
The estuary is always changing and has offered me a lifetime of inspiration. This lovely painting takes you to the edge of the sea and looks out to the mouth of the estuary past the Rosalind Peninsular. The light is waning and evening is drawing in.
The tide has edged up the beach and the soft purple blue of evening tide is edging over the Estuary. Vessels come in twos and on the horizon two large sips wait to dock into Falmouth harbour, and on the other side of the estuary, two small sailing boats are illuminated against the headland that will take the sailers around to the comfort of St Mawes harbour.
