Sara Owen

Sara Owen’s paintings are carriers of sensation and containers of feelings and emotions in response to landscapes experienced, relationships with people, events and things seen.

She has a strong concern for colour – for the pure sensation of it – and edges where pigments meet and overlap. Thin layers of glazes and geometric structures, using the Golden Ratio, become metaphors for the shifting thresholds between the known and unknown; a place where memory meets with the known qualities of technique and drawing.

Sara trained at Wimbledon School of Art and The Slade School of Art, London. She has exhibited in London, Norfolk, Cornwall and Devon and is in many private collections. She now lives in mid Cornwall, where she has a studio, near the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
