Nicky is a Cornwall based artist inspired by walking, colour, materials, and process.
Her work is predominately abstract and focuses on the colours that surround her in the beautiful county of Cornwall and beyond. A painter/printmaker she works in a number of media including acrylic, watercolour and oil.
Her paintings are made from slices of layered solid paint. Each slice a mini sea or landscape based on the colours experienced on one walk on one day. Displayed on mass they resemble multiple polaroids.
Her printmaking includes the white-line method, which she also teaches, and printing from found objects.
Both the prints and paintings evoke a feeling of being in the landscape.
A commercial artist since 2003, Nicky has returned to education and is currently in her final few months of a BA(Hons) Painting, Drawing and Printmaking at Plymouth College of Art. She is hoping to continue studying an MA in Print post-graduation.
In January 2017, Nicky began walking the South West Coast Path collecting colours as inspiration for her work.
