Mark Dickens
Mark Dickens has a naive approach to draughtsmanship but combines that with a sophisticated painting technique using many layers and washes to reveal hidden depths and textures. He always wants to convey his joy for painting through the marks he makes with paint and brushes.
He has been painting Cornish townscapes and landscapes since graduating in 1998 with a particular passion for St Ives, where he has been exhibiting his work in a number of galleries in that area. Over this time he has, through trial and error and hours of practice, developed his own style and personal visual language. He not adverse to pushing the boundaries in his work and it’s a continual evolution.
He was a finalist in the 2005 Sunday Times Watercolour Competition.
