Mariëlle is an abstract expressionist landscape artist. Applying layers of Gesso mixed with sand-plaster and cement Mariëlle strives to a painting with texture which depicts atmosphere and mood. The painting evolves whilst always paying attention to composition and balance of color and form.

The paintings although inspired by the Cornish landscape are an expression of the mind.

‘A painting usually begins from a memory of the place or a moment. Sometimes just looking at the sky can trigger an idea or a feeling I want to record in paint. The work comes very much from within.

Mariëlle completed BA (hon) degree in 2003. She has studied at the Higher College of art in Utrecht the Netherlands.
