Lucy Joines

Lucy primarily works in ceramics thrown on the wheel, creating three dimensional forms which she then decorates with plants, flowers and wildlife to express her passion for the magical Cornish flora, fauna and wildlife.

Lucy first learnt how to throw in Japan in 1996, when she was awarded the ‘Ferdinand Zweig Memorial Scholarship’, to travel and study Japanese pottery as part of her Ceramic BA Hons Degree at Falmouth College of Art. She has been very influenced by Japanese ceramics ever since and continues this love of the East meets West as a volunteer at the Leach Pottery in St Ives.

“After 16 years as an Art & Ceramics Teacher, I am now lucky enough to focus all my time in my studio in Mount Hawke, exploring my ceramics further and continuing a passion to express the magic in our natural world.”
