Jim Carey
Jim studied Fine Art at Glasgow School of Art from 1977-1981 where he was taught by David Donaldson, James D (Jimmy) Robertson, Geoffrey Squire, Barbara Rae, Duncan Shanks, Neil Dallas Brown and Alexander (Sandy)Moffat.
It was in Scotland where he first discovered his love of landscape painting. He settled in Cornwall in 1982 where he became one of the original pioneers of Kneehigh Theatre. His landscape paintings portray a strong sense of place and fascination with the natural world and ever changing light, colour and atmospheres of the seasons. Jim’s work is an ongoing exploration in paint.
His landscape paintings are not only a representation of a particular scene but contain an expression of an emotional response to those elements caught in a moment in time.
